Dr. Denise Joseph is an American Ethnobotanist, Doctor of Jurisprudence and primary architect of Open Sea Institute and its proprietary foundational methodology. Together with Dr. Louis Joseph, Dr. Denise Joseph co-founded the Open Sea Institute Research Initiative System (OSIRIS) and introduced the Principle of Conservation of Coherence Under Constraint. Denise Joseph is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, the world’s oldest natural history and biological sciences society.

At Open Sea Institute, Denise Joseph offers OSI-type Coaching™ in Addictions & Dependence Intervention, Executive & Institutional Performance, Life & Wellness, and Domestic Systems & Life Transitions. Denise has faithfully served as ally, advisor, and coach to senior executives across industries, their organizations, and their families, worldwide. 

Denise Joseph was educated at The George Washington University School of Law, Oxford University, New York University, and the Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Denise has graduate level education in mental health counseling and has ICF accredited educational certifications as both Master Certified Professional Coach and Master Certified Professional Life Coach.  Prior to founding Open Sea Institute, Denise enjoyed careers in law, high-dollar fundraising, executive entrepreneurship and fine art. At OSIRIS, Denise authors academic works in peer-reviewed publications on the topics of life science, evolutionary biology, mental health, and public policy.

With doctoral and post-graduate work in International Relations and International Human Rights Law, Denise founded Open Sea Institute to connect people across oceans of difference—physical, cultural, and political. Each aspect of Denise’s education, training and experience informs her practice at OSI. Denise Joseph’s focus is interdisciplinary with an emphasis on awareness and public health. She knows that societies will truly flourish when mental health is adequately prioritized and incentivized in populations.
